For the record... With great improvements in European Law with regard to animal welfare in the cosmetics industry, the RSPCA Good Business Awards stopped including Cosmetics businesses in the Awards after 2009. For the record though, 2009 winners and finalists are still highlighted in Good Things - we think they still deserve recognition. Please bear in mind that the products refer to summer 2010.
The Body Shop rock
The Body Shop has always played an important role in the global campaign against cosmetic animal testing. They are rightly proud of their dedication to the issue and the fact that the EU banned animal testing for finished cosmetic products in 2004 and for ingredients in 2009.
They also help fund organisations that campaign for increased research into animal testing alternatives – they don’t just talk the talk, they walk the walk.
BRIGHTER FUTURE
“Summer awaits! It’s time to grab your passport to ‘gorgeous’ and embrace this season’s look of beautifully bronzed,” say the multiple Good Business Award-winning folk at The Body Shop. “With an extensive range of naturally inspired products to help you embrace safe summer bronzing and unveil your inner nomadic goddess!”
It’s true that there’s Vitamin E Everyday Summer Face Lotion, 50ml, priced at £8. It’s a light, fragrant, naturally-derived, self-tanning lotion to gradually build a beautiful, sun-kissed glow with each application. The Body Shop say there’s no need to apply moisturiser before using the lotion, as it contains a rich cocktail of moisturising ingredients including Community Trade cocoa butter, soya oil and honey – and we believe them.
Nature’s Mineral Bronzing Powder, priced at £15 is a premium loose powder containing just pure minerals with no added preservatives or fragrance. Available in two colour hues, to give a natural-looking bronzed complexion - offering adjustable coverage – just sweep on more to turn up your ‘tan’.
Body and Leg Shine, priced at £11.50 can enhance your summer tan or transform un-tanned skin in an instant with the touch of this glimmering, sheer bronzing gel stick. Smooth it on for a healthy-looking bronze sheen.
“Every one of The Body Shop products is animal cruelty free and vegetarian” they confirm. “In fact, we were the first international cosmetics brand to be recognized under the Humane Cosmetics Standard for our Against Animal Testing policy and recently received the RSPCA Lifetime Achievement Award for our long-standing stance against animal testing for cosmetic purposes.”

“Every one of The Body Shop products is animal cruelty free and vegetarian” they confirm.'' I'm sure they would also confirm that L'oreal actually owns the Body Shop - SO SHOP HERE AND LINE THE POCKETS OF ANIMAL TORTURERS L'OREAL.

So long as the The Body Shop is still part of the l'oreal group it can not be truely ethical at all.

The Body Shop is owned by L'Oreal and does still operate a policy of not testing on animals. Against Animal Testing is one of their core principles.
