For the record... With great improvements in European Law with regard to animal welfare in the cosmetics industry, the RSPCA Good Business Awards stopped including Cosmetics businesses in the Awards after 2009. For the record though, 2009 winners and finalists are still highlighted in Good Things - we think they still deserve recognition. Please bear in mind that the products refer to summer 2010.
Lush
Lush are firmly committed to a policy which not only precludes testing its products and ingredients on animals, or having anyone else do so on their behalf, but will also not buy ingredients from any supplier that tests any of its materials on any animals for any purpose. Impressive stuff – and justification for their ongoing recognition in the RSPCA Good Business Awards.

A life more Lush
The sunshine season calls for fresh, clean looks so how about freshening up your beauty cabinet? And Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics has a range of brand new products to start you off nicely.
Happy Blooming bath melt (£3.60)
Lush’s bath melts are solid blocks of bath oil, a more environmentally friendly option than the liquid counterpart. They moisturise, soften and soothe the skin without leaving it feeling oily. This new one is made with 50% calamine powder for a really effective skin-calming treatment, along with dried cherries, passionflower seed oil and fresh passion fruit juice – all held together with cocoa butter. There’s enough for three baths, so you can break off a chunk every time you feel like a relaxing, skin nourishing, fruity soak!
Turkish Delight (£15.00)
A smooth shower soap inspired by Turkish Baths. Butter yourself up with this creamy cocoa butter-based soap with a bouquet of delicate rose and jasmine. Turkish Delight contains both rose absolute and rose oil – 20,000 petals in every pot - along with some rose water, a tonic for the skin. Blended with almond oil and cocoa butter to intensely moisturise and hydrate the skin – leaving it cleansed and subtly fragranced.
Crème Anglaise (£25.00 for 240g)
A rich vanilla and almond hand and body cream. With Crème Anglaise Lush has blended together such soothing ingredients as almond oil, extra virgin coconut oil, Fair Trade organic shea butter and cocoa butter. While the almond oil is softening on the skin, the butters are finely balanced to give a light feel that sinks directly into the skin. Scented with vanilla and sweet orange, a touch of myrrh helps tone the skin.

Thumbs up to Lush. They are endorsed by Naturewatch as being entirely cruelty free.

I believe LUSH is so far ahead of the High Street brands nominated that there should be no competition. LUSH has already won in my view - they have always been ethical, campaign against animal cruelty (cosmetic testing, et al) and use the finest, sustainable natural ingredients they can souce. Unlike mainstream brands who give the impression they are ethical, but are not - some actually admit they need (?) to use animal testing so they can invent more cosmetic goods to sell, (thereby making more profit?). These are the BAD guys - LUSH are the GOOD GUYS!

I love this shop so much.
Proof that you can avoid testing on animals AND using animal ingredients and still make good products with a huge range to suit everyone.

I wish LUSH had a reward card.... I would get so many points!!! This is the best company on the high street. It is a shame they closed their cosmetics sister company B.
